Senior MS SQL Database Developer & Administrator

The ideal candidate will have a strong experience of database design, development and administration.  You will be joining an established development team and take control of the administration of a number of existing databases and be heavily involved with the development of new databases and systems to meet the need of the business.

Job summary:

Administer and optimise existing databases, design and develop new databases in line with company requirements.  To control the database environment by implementing and maintaining clear processes and good practice. 

Main tasks and duties:

  • Administer and optimise existing databases
  • Identify and implement improvements to database design and implementation
  • Design and maintain referential integrity
  • Design, maintain and implement stored procedures
  • Control database access and ensure agreed standards are adhered to
  • Implement industry best practice
  • Develop and maintain project and company documentation
  • Actively consider potential blocking/ deadlocking scenarios and write code to avoid those situations
  • Ensure that security issues are considered
  • Develop reports in SQL Database Reporting Services
  • Participate in discussions involving the application creation and understand the requirements and provide the back-end functionality for the applications
  • Ensure that budgets are adhered to and deadlines are met

Essential Skills:

  • Full stack experienced in database design
  • Strong MS SQL and .net background
  • Solid understanding of software test methodology and practice
  • Experience of MS SQL mirroring and clustering technologies
  • Experience in a similar role

Desirable Skills:

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or proven industry training & experience
  • Good HTML 5 experience
  • Other related DB experience
  • Experience with LINQ and entity framework
